Sesquicentennial Commissions
The State of Minnesota celebrates its Sesquicentennial this May. Local artists were commissioned by counties to prepare work on selected historic subjects. This work will be on exhibit in St. Paul at the State Capitol on May 17-18.
Gene Tokheim and Franz Allbert Richter collaborated on a Pickle Crock for Swift County that commemorates the part that railroads played in settling western Minnesota.
Lucy Tokheim did an oil painting titled "The Mission at Lac Qui Parle", portraying Joseph Renville, Thomas Williamson and a Dakota student translating the Bible into the Dakota language.
Prints of this painting are available for sale, stretched canvas in three sizes, and accompanied by historical narrative. Contact us for more information.
