The teapot is one of the highest formal challenges in the life of a potter who makes functional pieces for every day use. They need to be well balanced in the visual relationships of the spout, lid, foot and belly. Most importantly, they need to pour well and not drip. In the Japanese tradition things are kept to a simple elegance. This oatmeal teapot is 6" tall, with with bamboo handle is 8.5" and 7.75" width. The black-brown Temmoku glaze teapot has a clay handle 8" width, 4 3/4" tall.
