The Ale Hen is one of my favorite pieces that Gene and I do together. One of those had the honor of traveling to Norway for the Norsk I Amerika exhibit organized by the Vesterheim in 1989. I had found the first version of it in the Vesterheim Museum Collection. The form is wonderful and I liked its surface carving. I think it was from Setesdal so I named ours the Setesdal Hen. Setesdal and the bird form continue to inspire our work. 11.5" length, 6.5" height
